Hi! I’m Sydney.

I graduated in December 2023 from Texas A&M University with a BS in Computer Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. I’m excited to be joining the Technical Rotation and Career Knowledge (TRACK) Program at General Motors in July 2024 as a software engineer. In the meantime, I’m working as an instructor at Mathnasium and am the Vice President of the Aggie Book Club. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, doing puzzles, and taking my cat Benji on walks.
In the summer of 2021, I took a step back from my normal life and embarked on a solo cross-country road trip. Over the course of 47 days, I drove 8,245 miles and hiked 92 miles across the United States, blogging about my adventures along the way. It’s an experience that deeply shaped me, allowing me to refresh and reset while pushing my comfort zone. I was forced by my circumstances to adapt. From an ant infestation in my tent and discovering a leak in the roof of my car to finding somewhere to sleep when all the campsites were booked, I had to flex my problem-solving skills. As much as I love the work I’ve done in school and during internships, I still crave creative outlets and time outdoors. I’ve been working on making more time for that going forward.
I spent the summer of 2022 in Westminster, Colorado, working as a software development intern at Maxar on the Tactical Ground Programs team. I had a fantastic experience working in an Agile environment with a great team. In addition to developing and improving my technical skills, I learned about working in a team environment on a large project, knowing when to ask for help, and coding in a production environment.
In the summer of 2023, I slowed down and tried to give back to my community. When I wasn’t working at Mathnasium or helping to run the Aggie Book Club, I volunteered at the Aggieland Humane Society and donated blood at the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. I also spent a month exploring Europe with my dad, which was a great opportunity push myself and change up my environment.
